Summary

Adam Paul Steed, raised Mormon, was abused as an LDS Boy Scout in Idaho. He became a nationally known whistleblower when he turned in a dangerous predator, and teamed with his father to successfully change the Idaho sexual abuse statue of limitations laws. Later, Adam moved to Utah with his new wife to attend Brigham Young University. Soon thereafter tragedy stuck when he fell into the crosshairs of Mormon therapist Jodi Hildebrandt - at the recommendation of his Mormon bishop. Among other violations, Jodi Hildebrandt sought to paint Adam as an abuser (with no evidence), and violated Adam's client confidentiality by reporting him to the BYU Honor Code office, which led to the suspension of her therapist license around 2012.

Adam believes it possible that Jodi Hildebrandt's efforts to smear his reputation were possibly motivated by a desire to retaliate against him for his whistleblowing as a Boy Scout.

One important question we ask today - why was Elder Harold G. Hillam (Presidency of the LDS Quorum of the 70, and the President of the very same camp where Adam had been abused) deeply involved in Jodi Hildebrandt's attacks on Adam.

0:05.1	It is September 12th, 2023, and we are in the middle of a few weeks of a coverage of the eight
0:17.3	passengers Ruby Frankie, Jody Hildebrandt scandal. And basically today we are here to interview
0:26.2	Adam Paul Steed for those who don't have that introduction. Basically Ruby Frankie was a
0:34.4	Mormon mother and super famous YouTube influencer who with her husband and six children had a YouTube
0:43.0	channel called eight passengers. We've covered that already so I'm not going to really dig into that
0:48.1	other than to say super popular Mormon YouTube channel. And then the Frankie family meets Jody
0:56.0	Hildebrandt, who was a Mormon therapist endorsed by the Mormon Church, promoted by the Mormon Church,
1:03.2	supported financially by the Mormon Church. And I'm guessing that Jody Hildebrand and her
1:08.7	organization connections were referred to the Frankie family probably by the Mormon Bishop.
1:13.6	But once Ruby Frankie and Jody Hildebrandt started working together, it appeared as though Ruby
1:19.8	Frankie's rhetoric got more and more extreme. She started talking about depriving her children of
1:27.3	food, her son of a bed, and just using more and more extreme kind of hyper Christian fundamentalist
1:38.4	language. And a long story short, this ended with the Frankie husband sort of being marginalized
1:47.8	from the YouTube channel. And ultimately the eight passengers YouTube channel was shut down.
1:53.3	And low and behold, miraculously, Ruby Frankie reemerges on the scene with Jody Hildebrandt.
2:03.6	Basically, I think they started a channel called Moms of Truth where they were giving out
2:08.4	family advice, marriage advice, and parenting advice on the internet. And then fast forward to
2:15.5	just in the past few weeks, Jody and Ruby were arrested for child abuse and they're curly and
2:21.9	jail. And we've been covering that on Mormon Stories podcast. We did an excellent episode with
2:28.5	Jordan McKay giving an overview. So I refer you to that previous episode to just kind of get the
