Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Warmestore's podcast. I am one of your hosts for today, John DeLin.

0:05.7

It is September 6th,

0:08.2

2023 and today we are going to be covering the next episode in our series on the recent eight passengers

0:17.6

story that has come out with Jody Hildebrett, the Mormon therapist from the organization connections for those of you who didn't catch it and

0:26.7

don't know the back story about what I'm talking about. You can go to a previous episode of Mormon stories where we basically discussed the Mormon YouTube slash vlogging family, the Frankies that recently got into some legal trouble when one of the children of the Frankie family basically was discovered at a neighbor's house in St. George with lacerated wrists

0:56.2

and duct tape on their feet and they showed up dehydrated and malnourished and later when the police got involved the police discovered the two of I believe the six children in the Frankie family had been basically imprisoned in the basement of Mormon therapist Jody Hildebrett of connections Jody Hildebrett is a local Salt Lake City Mormon therapist that was in the

1:26.0

place that the Mormon Church has been recommending to its members for decades. She claims to have worked closely with Mormon apostles and the Mormon Church to create their 12 step program on addiction recovery and she's been doing individual therapy, couples therapy and running support groups for Mormons for a few decades now.

1:52.0

She has a master's degree I believe in in social work and to those of us who have been around the Valley for a while we have known for quite some time that her approaches are very problematic but anytime I personally tried to cover Jody Hildebrett none of her former patients or clients were willing to go on the record partly because they're afraid of her and partly because the things that they participated in with Jody I don't know we're so.

2:22.0

So embarrassing or troubling that they didn't want their stories told since Jody Hildebrett has been incarcerated with Ruby Frankie the mom in the Frankie family more people have been willing to come out and we're going to be hopefully sharing two or three stories in the next few days of survivors or victims of Jody Hildebrett and her connections program tomorrow morning we're scheduled to interview Jody Hildebrett.

2:52.0

Jody's niece and then later we have a couple other of Jody's former clients that are planning to tell their story as well so what's for that in the coming days on Mormon stories podcast but today we are specifically going to be focusing on Jody Hildebrett of connections and understanding what her approach has been and why it is deeply problematic you know one of the thumbnails that we put together was basically titled

3:22.0

the therapist that ruined a passengers we've since reworked that thumbnail because the truth is Ruby Frankie and her husband were adults and parents and complicit in a lot that happened so we don't want to put it all on Jody Hildebrett but anyway what we plan to do for today is bring together an illustrious panel to talk about and respond to some of the videos that Jody and Ruby

3:52.0

have put out and talk about them from a therapeutic or clinical or a mental health perspective so joining us back in Mormon story studio is a dear friend someone whose face will be familiar to anyone who has been following

4:44.9

yeah and I will be talking a lot about the Mormon mental health association at the end of this program because it's a way for you to find an ethical therapist that's culturally competent in you know Mormon issues that are common to people who are both in the church and who are navigating the relationship with the church.

5:04.9
