Hello everyone and welcome to this episode of The Prosecutors. I'm Brett, your host and I'm joined as always with my co-host, Alice.

Hello Alice. Hey Brett, how are you? I'm doing great, and Alice. This is an exciting day for a couple reasons.

Number one, if you hear hammering in the background at any point, that's because my roof is finally being replaced.

So I'll try and take as much out of that as possible, but if you do hear it, just know it's good news.

And it's also an exciting day for the audience because they don't have to listen to us ramble on endlessly.

Today we have a guest star on the podcast, friend of the show Cheryl McCollum. Hello Cheryl.

Hello. Thank you so much for having me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to join us. I got to tell you we are so excited to have you.

You know, we just make it up as we go along, but it seems like you actually have some experience, so I think this will be a podcast that people can actually take something away from.

Now people know who we are, so why don't you go ahead and introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your background.

Okay, Cheryl McCollum, I'm a native from Atlanta. I married my hospital sweetheart.

We have two children that are just pure fun and you know, never been a minute trouble.

And I've been in criminal justice for a really long time in one way or the other.

And right now I'm an active crime scene investigator for Metro Atlanta police department, but I also run the Colt case investigative research institute, which is a nonprofit where we assist law enforcement and families with action plans on how to actually solve cold cases.

Let me just say Cheryl, I love your accent.

Well, here's a little connection. I actually spent my childhood in Atlanta, but back when I lived there, it was a lot more remote.

I lived on a horse farm that's apparently now a strip mall.

Yeah, well, we used to have a lot more what I would consider like a rural part of Metro Atlanta, so it is definitely grown no doubt.

Absolutely. Can you tell us a little bit more about this cold case investigative research institute? What is it affiliated with?

I used to teach college when my children were babies because I could teach on choosing Thursdays.
