Hope is a powerful thing. In this episode we shift our perspective a little beyond what we can see. We discuss how the Lord will test us and the importance of perseverance. The Scriptures we focused on were Exodus 15:22-27; Deuteronomy 8:1-20; 1 Samuel 10:8; 13:1-15; and John 6:5-7. **CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS** I quote Romans 15:13 a few times in this episode. All right, everybody, welcome back to I Just Want to Talk About the Bible, the podcast where we talk about the Bible, and most importantly, the one to whom it points.

0:15.9

If this is your first time joining us, my name is Christian. I live on the east coast of the U.S. with my beautiful,

0:23.6

amazing, godly wife and our two incredible daughters. And I am on staff at an international

0:29.2

discipleship ministry called Mentoring Men for the Master that's also based out of North Carolina.

0:35.5

So let me go ahead and say, we're going to just jump right into the content

1:30.6

1:39.3

We will look for a reason. And there could be a host of reasons. There really could be. I'm going to add

1:47.0

one layer, a potential reason today. That's a very valid reason, but there could be plenty of

1:52.3

reasons. If we're in an unpleasant circumstance, it could be that we put ourselves in that

1:57.6

circumstance. We do that sort of stuff, unfortunately, where we make decisions

2:02.6

and then we suffer the consequences of those decisions. And oftentimes when we do that,

2:10.3

we look to shift the blame, though. In fact, I didn't put this in my notes or anything like that.

2:15.7

But there's Proverbs 193 says,

2:17.8

when a man's folly brings his way to ruin,
