Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories podcast. I'm your host for today, John DeLin.

0:05.0

It is Friday, August 4th, and we are super excited to have with us all the way from Wellington, New Zealand,

0:13.2

Ganesh, Cherian. Hey Ganesh. Hi, nice to be with you.

0:17.5

This is going to be a New Zealand Mormon story, and I am here joined by my partner in truth and righteousness.

0:26.9

Margie. Hey, Margie. Hey. So glad you could be here. I'm really glad I'm here too. Yeah. And I've known Ganesh for a while.

0:36.0

He's just a lovely thoughtful human. He is a former Mormon bishop and he's lived in, I guess,

0:45.2

the same ward in Wellington, New Zealand for how long? Pretty much all my life. Yeah. So like at least 20

0:53.2

years, right? That's right. I have lived in a few other places, but I've always come back to Wellington

0:59.2

and I've effectively been in the same ward for all of that time. Yeah. So I guess part one of this

1:06.4

interview is going to be Ganesh's Mormon story. Ganesh is also coming out soon with a book and the

1:13.5

book is probably going to be called What? 19th century evidences and development of the book of

1:19.6

Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ. So it's a topical biography of Joseph Smith. So we don't know

1:26.0

exactly when we're going to record part two, but I want to make sure and mention that at the outset,

1:31.4

because it's a good one. Ganesh is no dummy, so to speak. So if he puts a book together, he's put a

1:37.2

lot of thought into it. And it's going to be about influences to the book of Mormon. Yep. And just

1:42.9

really just tracking Joseph's life and looking at various themes. So it's almost like I choose

1:50.1

your own adventure. You know how he used to do those little kids. I mean, we know what happens,

1:53.8

of course, because Joseph dies at the end, but how he gets there on lots of different aspects of

2:00.3

his life is I think fascinating and incredibly interesting and engaging. And it shows Joseph

2:07.2

in a lot of different lights that make him very relatable and human. Love it.

2:13.6

Now we've had a few New Zealanders on Mormon Stories podcast, Gina Colvin. Back in the day,

2:18.9

you'll probably remember more than I, other New Zealanders we've had on.
