the Gospel of Temporary Self-Glory, or the Gospel of Uncomfortable Grace. or the gospel of uncomfortable grace.

Well, it's a question that all of us ask.

You won't live in a fallen world without asking this question.

What in the world is going on?

Maybe you've asked that after a long week of work and you realize you're not able to pay your bills.

Maybe you've asked that question in a moment of unexpected physical sickness.

Maybe you've asked that when you've lost a loved one, faced a relationship

disappointment, study long hours for a test at university that you ended up failing. What in the

world is going on?

Maybe there's a corollary question,

and how in the world should I respond to it?

We want to look this evening,

particularly at verses 3 through 9 of 1st Peter, chapter 1.

If you remember, Peter is writing to people who are suffering,

he's writing to people who are being hammered. And although there is comfort in this letter of Peter, there's much more here than just comfort. This little letter is a call to action.
