| 0:40.4 | convicted of a crime and then were deprived of their liberty for many years. And after all that, |
| 0:47.0 | a very long battle to overturn their convictions, they were told that they weren't eligible for |

| 0:55.0 | How did you first find out about this? |
| 0:57.0 | So I was looking into this in 2024 when the post office scandal was dominating the headlines. |
| 1:04.1 | And like many people, I wanted to understand how was it that post office scandal victims |
| 1:09.1 | were struggling so much to get compensation? |
| 1:11.3 | And I was surprised to find that the government had for decades administered a compensation scheme. |
| 1:18.6 | And so that made me question, why did it have to kind of create bespoke compensation schemes just for the post office scandal victims? |
| 1:25.8 | And so I sent a freedom information request to the Ministry of Justice asking them |
| 1:31.4 | how many post office scandal victims had applied for compensation through this scheme |
| 1:36.1 | and how many had been successful. |
| 1:38.6 | And they told me that a handful of applied and all of them had been rejected through this |
| 1:42.5 | scheme. |
