Summary

Dee Olateru, is a CPA, an executive at one of the Big 4 global professional services firm, a 3-time immigrant, and the founder of The Rich Immigrant. At the Rich Immigrant, she helps 1st and 2nd generation immigrants attain financial independence, live full lives, and maintain their identities in their new homes.  She was forced to pay attention to her finances when she graduated Summa Cum Laude but could not land a job. To make ends meet while she applied to graduate school she got a $10 per hour job at a factory making light fixtures. 12 years later, she's built a career that has taken her all over the world. However, many of those habits she built on a $10 per hour salary continue to guide her today on a six-figure salary! WHAT WAS DISCUSSED: Her personal experience as an immigrant in the US Applying to over 500 jobs with her undergrad degree and getting rejections and more rejections Why she instead chose to take a $10 p/h job How she learned about financial literacy and started applying her lessons to her life Advice for other immigrants in the US AND MUCH MORE AND MORE KEEP UP WITH DEE Website: https://therichimmigrant.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therichimmigrant --- Looking for A GREAT BANK ACCOUNT to SAVE MORE? --- Check out Chime: https://www.chime.com/applytp/?ref=clevergirlfinancecgf&ad=tp_ --- Considering TERM LIFE INSURANCE? --- For great term life insurance that allows you to increase or decrease your policy as you need to with no fees, check out Ladder: https://ladder.pxf.io/c/403981/557243/9299?subId1=%7BsubId1%7D (P.S. Olateru and Dee is a CPA, an executive at a top four US accounting firm, and she's also an immigrant, but her story did not always start it that way. So Dee graduated from college with a ton of debts and couldn't find a job and then started working at a light fixture company earning $10 an hour. And so today I'm excited to have her on to share her story, her journey from going to that going from that $10 an hour job, navigating life in the U.S. as an immigrant to becoming an executive at a major firm and earning six figures.
