And I'm Lorne McKenna. Today we're thrilled to be chatting with Saline Song, a director, screenwriter, and playwright whose debut feature Past Lives

open to overwhelmingly high praise at its Sundance Premier. Past Lives was recently nominated

for the Best Picture and Best Original original screenplay Oscars. The film is loosely

based on and inspired by Song's own life experience. Past Lives was released by A24 in summer

2023. The film has received wide acclaim from audiences and critics alike

having won Best Feature Film at the 2023 Gotham Awards and two Hollywood Critics Association

awards for Best Indie and Best Screenplay, as well as and two

Critics' Association Awards for Best Indie and Best Screenplay, as well as five independent Spirit Award nominations,

two Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Picture

and Best Original Screenplay,

and a Directors Guild of America nomination for outstanding

directorial achievement and first-time theatrical feature film.

Amazing, she's amazing and as a playwright song is best known for Endlings, which premiered in 2019 at the American

Repertory Theater, and had its New York debut in 2020 at New York Theater Workshop.

She has been a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and a semi-finalist for the American Playwriting

Foundation's Relentless Award. During the New York Theater Company's virtual 2020 season, she presented

live on Twitch, the Seagull in The Sims 4. Song also wrote on the first season of Amazon series Wheel of Time.
