Hello and thank you for listening to the Squiggly Careers podcast. I'm Sarah Ellis, one of your hosts,

0:07.8

and welcome to our Ask the Expert second series. The idea of these conversations is to continue

0:13.5

exploring specific skills that we hope will help us all as we continue to navigate our careers

0:19.4

and a world of work that has got a whole lot

0:21.9

squigglyer in 2020. In today's episode, I'm talking about empathy with philosopher and author

0:27.5

Roman Krasnurik. I've been following Roman's work for at least 10 years now and I've always

0:32.7

really admired his ability to explore the big questions about the lives that we lead and the work

0:38.9

that we do in a way that feels useful and accessible for everyone. And his book, Wonderbox,

1:20.0

helpful for the work that we do, but also the world that we live in. And just before we get

1:25.1

started, we always want to say thank you to our partner for this

1:27.7

series, the Bupa Foundation. Without the Bupa Foundation, we couldn't make these conversations

1:32.6

happen. The Bupa Foundation are a charity and their purpose is all about helping people live longer,

1:38.2

happier and healthier lives. If you have chance to listen to a new podcast, they've just

1:42.7

launched one called Resilience

1:44.2

and the thing that I love about that podcast, it's stories from everyday people that you probably

1:50.6

won't hear on any other podcasts and those people talking about some of the extraordinary things

1:55.6

that they've achieved and how they've been resilient and I find that really fascinating.
