| 0:00.0 | Hello, welcome back to the True Crime Guys podcast. I'm on Michael. Alright, we got a crazy case for you this week. |
| 0:27.4 | A small town tragedy turned into a mystery. Absolutely. A lot of intrigues here. This is one of those cases with plenty of twists and turns. You think you got it figured out, then you're like, wait, that doesn't add up. You know, some other cases come to mind like, like, for instance, the suicide of, I think it was Ellen Greenberg. Was that her who was ruled a suicide and she stabbed herself 20 something times in the back allegedly. You know, it's like these cases, man. Yeah, right. These cases never cease to amaze me. |
| 0:57.4 | I think the extent that people will go to to stage a crime scene. You know what I mean? It's pretty insane. Well, should we get into it without giving too much away? Let's do it, man. Alright. |
| 1:10.4 | Let me talk at you a minute creepers. Now we know, even with all the content we create here at TCG, that your little true crime, love and heart still yearn for more. And that's why we try to keep a lookout for other badass true crime podcast that we ourselves enjoy. And therefore, once a promote. |
| 1:27.2 | It brings me to Motem Mischief, a show about true cyber crime. Motem Mischief is a podcast that focuses on hackers in the dark web. On this show, you'll hear stories about Israel's cyber warfare division, the teenage hacking group that got into Los Alamos nuclear lab, the man who hacked into NASA, and much, much more. |
| 1:46.2 | Subscribe to Motem Mischief, wherever you get your podcast or click the link in the show notes. Motem Mischief. It's a different kind of true crime that we know you're going to love. |
| 1:57.2 | My father, you know, he loved everybody and he loved his job, especially, but more than just his friends and his, and his job, he loved his family. Most importantly, he always had a really huge sense of family fundamentals and everything like that. And who's just always a happy guy, you know, always smiling, always saying, hey to everyone. And, you know, he's just all around just a man's managed a great guy. |
| 2:23.2 | Lieutenant Glanowitz was a person who truly did care about his community. He was always involved with community events, village events, et cetera. He truly loved his job. He loved doing things for the explorers and his explorers was a huge part of his life. He really dedicated hundreds of thousands of hours into bettering the Fox Lake community, the Illinois Law Enforcement Explorers, and the National Law Enforcement Explorers. |
| 2:47.2 | And events like this will truly alter the opinions of some, but for me, it truly makes myself want to become a police officer more and more, and to fill his important work and continue doing what he did. |
| 3:02.2 | I thought it would have been him apprehending the suspect. I didn't think it would have been the other way around. When I heard it, I was devastated. My school wasn't a lockdown. |
| 3:11.2 | I immediately burst into tears. I just couldn't believe what I was being told. It was truly, it was heartbreaking for me, my explorers, the community, everyone. |
| 3:21.2 | Well, first of all, the Fatal Gun Shot wound, which was between the first and second ribs, was located two inches under the bulletproof vest, which means the gun had to be very close and shoved under the vest for that shot to occur. |
| 3:38.2 | So that was very unusual. That means it was close range. Secondly, the officer's uniform was in row-call shape, meaning that the shirt was in proper position, the pants were in proper position, the bulletproof vest was in proper position, which indicated there was no struggle. |
| 3:56.2 | And that was confirmed when we did the autopsy, where there was no defensive wounds on the arms, the hands, the chest, the legs. So the manner of death in my eyes was not clear cut. I needed more evidence. I needed the gunshot residue. I needed the DNA. I needed fingerprints. I needed psychosocial history. |
| 4:17.2 | So, as far as I was concerned, all three categories of manner of death were open. The autopsy findings on the day that we did it, I could show you how it could be a homicide, and I could show you how it could be a suicide. |
| 4:31.2 | However, when we saw that the clothing was intact, we had to think he must have been surprised. We didn't have initially really any idea within the coroner's office as to the manner of death. The crime task force proceeded as a homicide because of the radio dispatch. |
| 4:52.2 | Obviously, every investigation that a law enforcement takes an perspective is you have to look at it as either a homicide, accidental cause of death or suicide. With that in mind, I know my father. My family knows my father and his closest friends knew him as well. He was not someone who ever contemplated suicide. |
| 5:14.2 | He never had suicidal tendencies or anything like that. I mean, that's just a rumor. That's that. It is a rumor. It was someone that somebody made up because they wanted to interpret the story in their own. |
| 5:28.2 | All right, for our case this week, as we mentioned, we're doing a small town tragedy that turns into a murder mystery. And this small town that we keep mentioning is Fox Lake Illinois, which has a population of about 11,000 people and is a recreational hub for boaters that tend to avoid Lake Michigan. |
| 5:52.2 | So it's I want to say a little bit west of Lake Michigan. And it's it's small town that's just absolutely surrounded by lakes. Like seriously, they could spare a few for the rest of us. |
| 6:03.2 | Like to boat and do some recreational stuff, especially those of us to have Lake Mead. I was about to say, especially those Las Vegas who need water. |
| 6:11.2 | Yeah, yeah, it's just absolutely surrounded by it. It's like a boaters dream or fisherman or whatever water skier. |
