Today is a very special edition that's very, very rare that we broadcast at 8 a.m. or 8.23 a.m.

On a Sunday morning, we do not intentionally mean to compete with church,

but here we are doing a very important Mormon Stories podcast episode.

The episode we're doing today is on Mormon Church finances.

And we're going to be featuring a report that's been devised called the Wittles Might Report,

which is a report created by a consortium of thoughtful people who are good at finance

that are trying to encourage transparency and openness around Mormon Church finances.

And we'll get into that in just a second. Today joining me kind of as a co-producer is

Mormon Stories podcast is Spencer Anderson, a counting professor from the University of Illinois.

Yeah, really quickly. Do you want to introduce yourself and tell us who you are and why you're here?

Sure, yeah. I was born and raised in Utah, a typical path within the Mormon Church,

a Served Emission and all of that. We moved out to the Midwest in 2010, about 12 years ago or so,

and got my PhD in accounting at Indiana University, currently on faculty at the University of

Illinois. So there's something about the Big Ten that's just really important to you apparently.
