The Bible is clear that all human beings need to be rescued. But where does rescue come from?

In today's episode, Paul explains how systems have the ability to educate

and motivate, but only a person can rescue. We thought our marriage was over. There just didn't seem

to be any hope of change. We had tried everything. There were so much bad stuff that'd gone on over

the years. There just didn't seem to be any way out of it.

We'd try and sit down and talk about our problems, but I was so hurt and Peter was so angry.

We never successfully made it through one of those conversations.

I'd made the decision to move out, not because I wanted to divorce, but because I couldn't think of any other way to relieve the tension between us.

When I heard that, it shook me up so much that I reached out for help.

You'll never guess where the help came from. The Bible. It has been sitting on the very coffee

table that was between us during so many of our fights, but we had no idea how accurately described

what we were going through. And we had no idea how clearly it laid out the path from where we were

to where we needed to be.

It's embarrassing to say, but we looked at the Bible for the religious part of our lives.

We didn't really think it could heal our marriage.

It does make me wonder how many people are out there in the same place we were.

They have this wonderful manual for their life right there in their hands,

and they just don't know what they have.

Oh, I've got a friend, baby, you've got a friend in me.

When you're down, untroubled, and you need some love and care, and nothing, no, all is going right.
