And today we are talking with McKevin Faye. He's a experienced software engineer who just got laid off last week from his role at Microsoft.

Now, I did not plan on talking about this. He just got news well after we'd scheduled this interview.

So why not lean into that and talk about that experience? But Kevin, welcome to the show.

Thanks for having me, Quincy. Yeah. And we're going to talk in addition to like the post

layoff job search. We're going to talk about tips that Mac has for building your own safety net,

something he and his wife have been working on for many years in terms of like diversifying

your investments and all that stuff.

We're going to talk about how you can use developer skills to help the people around you

when you have downtime like this.

Uh,

and Mac maintains several different websites for friends and for his wife's speech pathology practice.

And we're also going to talk about how Mack trains himself mentally and physically for the rigors of modern work.

Spoiler alert, Mac has won some trail running competitions around the Portland area.

So he's serious about fitness.
