0:48.0 | So we like to start our podcast with getting an introduction about who you are, where you're from, and how did you take the path into doing trauma and participating in the society? |
1:01.0 | Well, sure. Well, as you mentioned, I'm in Salt Lake City now, but I haven't always been here. |
1:07.0 | I started practicing in rural Wyoming after my general surgery training at the University of Utah. |
1:15.0 | I was there for a brief period of time and then I went to, I traveled east and set up shop in |
1:21.0 | Scott's Bluff, Nebraska, also a rural community, but a bigger one. |
1:25.0 | And I had a very busy general surgery practice there. |
1:29.0 | I was somewhat roped into the trauma directorship job there. |
1:35.0 | We were a level one, a level two trauma center. |
1:37.8 | And I rapidly developed a passion for trauma care |
1:41.8 | and critical care. |
1:44.0 | And about a dozen years ago, I decided that I wanted to take it to the next level. |
1:51.0 | I went back and did a critical care fellowship at the advanced age of 47. That's a whole other topic and survived that and then joined the trauma group at the newly established Intermountain Medical Center, |
2:07.8 | which is the flagship hospital for the Intermountain Health Care group of hospitals here in Salt Lake City. |
