Summary

In the long view of your 100 years on earth, what is going to matter in THIS season?

I had an abrupt and unsettling realization when I had a parent teacher conference a few weeks ago. Though I believe I was discerning God's will and way for my life. I don't believe I was pursuing it in God's timing.

And that is one of the central themes around today's podcast. What is your season (mine is a quarter inch) in the grand scheme of life? And what matters most right now.

From there, what do you do with that understanding? How does it become practical and lived out?

Some topics covered:

  • The enemy wants to distract you from what matters in eternity
  • Parenting requires focus, I was allowing other "priorities" take that focus.. which now I realize was foolishness given my season
  • Distractions include Netflix, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, food (a personal struggle I'll talk more about in the new year)... just to name a few.

All right, well, welcome. Thank you so much for joining. This is Bella Rose. And it is just about the end of the year, 2017. So if you have been tracking with us the entire year, I am so excited that we're wrapping up now. And it's a very special time,

0:41.5

I think, of life, these couple of weeks right around Christmas, right before the new year.

0:48.8

I love it. I love the energy in the air. I love that people are really focused on thinking about family and thinking about

0:56.6

what matters. A lot of people are also thinking about goals and next year. And it just seems like

1:03.3

there's so much hope about what they can change in their lives. And I think it's great. I really do.

1:10.4

I think that God is a God of new beginnings. He gives us the

1:14.6

opportunity to change, to be new, to have forgiveness. And so I think he loves that we have this

1:24.1

inspiration all of a sudden to be different, to be more aligned with the people we

1:31.1

want to become. And that's what I want to talk to you about today is my journey with that

1:37.8

in recent weeks. You know, I ultimately desire from this podcast to inspire you, to motivate you,

1:47.9

to encourage you in your marriage. And the reason I choose marriage as the subject for inspiring

1:56.4

and motivating you is because it's the deepest, most wonderful relationship in humanness.

2:06.3

In terms of human relationships, it's the biggest. It can also be the darkest, the most depressing,

2:13.0

most despairing, most strife-filled experience in your life. And it affects everything. So that's why I

2:20.7

really focus in on marriage. And when I say it affects everything, it affects the way you parent. It

2:27.4

affects the way you are able to work in a job. It affects your ministry. It affects your ability to love other people. Well,

2:37.3

you know, if you're love deprived in your own marriage, you're not going to be able to have

2:42.9

the emotional capacity to carry other people's burdens because you're so burden in your own

2:49.0

heart and you don't have that freedom to live well.
