I knew of this story, the basics.

But when you get into the final details of this story,

is one of the most heartbreaking and frustrating disappearances I've ever researched.

At its core, there is a father who has now gone a decade without knowing what became of his children,

and a mother who has been institutionalised indefinitely.

She is the only one with the answers, but her mental breakdown may be the reason the resolution to this story is gone forever.

September 2010, Montgomery County, Maryland.

Three-year-old Sarah and two-year-old Jacob went missing by the hands of someone that was the closest to them, their own mother.

A mother who, depending on who you ask, is unable to or refuses to bring this story to its

resolution. And after a decade, Sarah and Jacob's father still does not have the answers as to what

happened to his children. This is Sarah and Jacob's story.

To understand how we get to the point where two young children are missing and their mother has been placed in custody indefinitely, we need to go back to the start.

Catherine Ashley Hoggill was born in 1986 to parents Lindsay and Randy Hoggall.
