Welcome in, everybody, to this week's edition of the Deer Hunter podcast.

What do we got going here this week?

We are, I am.

I am just home from a lovely weekend up in one of my favorite places in the entire world, northern Michigan.

Spent the 4th of July celebrating freedom up in the great outdoors of northern Michigan.

And man, I needed it.

I needed a couple days away from work, away from all the recent chaos to just kind of

disconnect and have some time with the family, get some rest. I did a lot of sleeping and naping,

which was just absolutely amazing. I took myself a nice, long, hard nap today. That is something that I have not

been able to do for a very long time. I know I'm getting thrown right back into the blast furnace

of work here this week. We're going to be in the upper 90s and hundreds here in southeast Michigan.

It looks like in the extended forecast,

not a lot of rain in the forecast, a whole lot of heat. So I was glad to be able to get a little

bit of rest. But I didn't rest the entire time. It was a pretty active vacation. We went up Wednesday

after works. We were there Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and we came home early yesterday, Sunday morning. Today it's Monday afternoon when I'm recording this little intro here. So, man, we did a lot of fishing. Went to Traverse City and fished off of, I guess that's the park or the marina there right in downtown Traverse

City and we caught a pile of rock bass and some small mouth. It was an absolute blast.

We had lunch in Traverse City, did the whole beach thing, and throughout the rest of the weekend,

we got some work done at the cabin, cut and split some firewood, and spent a lot of time just sitting by the campfire, looking out over the lake, relax, and looking at my kid, taking pictures of him and my cousins came up. My brother came up. They all brought their kids. I think there was eight, you know, eight kids there over the course of the weekend.
