I'm Martin Lee, and I go through every EV story, so you don't have to. We'll start with news of Tesla's

energy boost, introducing some range upgrades. The new energy boost feature has allowed Model Y rear-wheel drive owners some extra range.

Now, Tesla are not new to this all the way back to the Model S, originally coming with a

bigger battery than was needed, but being so-called software locked down.

So you are carrying the weight and getting the penalty of that, but not actually being able to use the battery.

There's some upsides to that, by the way. You obviously paid less for the vehicle.

There's some other things around battery health and not the full state of charge.

What you think being showed is full, not actually being full, but either way.

It's 50 miles on the Model Y rear-wheel drive now, originally

rated at 260 miles EPA. This model was discontinued in May when Tesla launched the Model Y

long-range rear-wheel drive, which had 320 miles of range. So the cost of the upgrade varies

based on the battery cells that they used in producing

your Model Y rear wheel drive. For $1,000, you can add 30 miles of range. For $1,600, 50 miles of range.

It means that the Model Y rear wheel drive with a 260 mile range could either get $290 or

310, depending on the chosen option for comparison

the model Y long range rear wheel drive you can buy right now starts at 44 990 and that offers

320 miles of range the price difference for the range upgrade is to do with the manufacturer you know know, either LG, Panasonic, etc., of the cells in use.
