And, yes, today is the day when we announce everyone's nominations, ours and yours, in the Comic Week Best of 2017's Awards process. We're sorry that the big announcement is coming to you at such a late date. We'd actually plan to record this episode a little earlier, but illness and the elements intervened. Actually, we regret that Shane was not able to join us tonight,

but last week he was fighting 100-degree fever, and this week he still hasn't quite gotten his

voice back. But he is with us in spirit, and he also has submitted his own personal list of

geek nominations.

So we're going to proceed.

I do look forward to this best of awards process every year because it gives us a chance to give due to certain creators and their works in the field of comics in the course of the year that has been.

In many cases, it's going to be encores because these are probably going to be things that we'll have talked about in the course of the year.

But at the same time, we also get to have our listeners talk back to us.

That's what makes it most exciting, I think, because it's the chance for the listeners to make their voices heard.

And we get to find out from them fairly directly what they have been reading and which quality work in the field of comics they think is most deserving of additional
