0:39.0 | We've got Jim Stovall on the show. Today he's going to share a really, I don't know what to call it, a moving story about making a decision to change your life by changing your mind and not accepting media opportunities. |

1:04.0 | And one of the questions I've been asked more than any others, Jim out of all the people you've met, the movie stars, the athletes, the politicians, who has impacted your life the most. |
1:14.0 | And there is one guy that's impacted my life more than any other and I kind of want to introduce you to him as I close today. |
1:23.0 | When I was 17 years old I was getting ready to go to college and as many of you remember one of the things you have to do when you go to college is fill out a lot of paperwork. |
1:31.0 | They want to know everything about you. And part of this paperwork requires you to get a physical exam. |
1:38.0 | Now when I was 17 I couldn't imagine why don't I get a physical exam to go to college. Now that I'm on the board of several universities I understand you see they want to make sure you're healthy so you don't die before you pay off your student loans. |
1:51.0 | That's right. It's a very important to college and universities today. |
1:55.0 | Well part of this physical exam they wanted me to get had this little card attached to the bottom of it said routine I test. |
2:03.0 | Never forget that the routine I test. |
2:06.0 | So I take it into our family eye doctor and you guys know how it works. They put the drops in your eyes and they shine the light in there and you read the chart. |
2:14.0 | And I was about ready to go when a second doctor comes in and he puts his drops in there and shines his light in there and I had to read his chart and then a third guy shows up and he ran a couple of more tests and then the three doctors kind of had a huddle over in the corner. |
2:28.0 | They were talking about this. |
2:31.0 | And finally the three doctors took me down a long haul and they sat me down and they said Jim we're not sure why and we're not sure when but we do know that someday you're going to be totally blind and there's not one thing we can do about it. |
2:49.0 | And your whole world just stops. |
2:54.0 | I didn't know what I was going to do. |
2:57.0 | So I just went into my famous denial phase. I just acted like it was never going to happen because I couldn't deal with it. |
3:04.0 | You ever know anybody they can go about 80 miles an hour straight toward a brick wall and they act like nothing bad is ever going to happen in their life. |
