Thank you for joining me today as we continue with the John Dodge children. We rolled through John's first set of children last week. This week we looked to investigate

the rest of the story with John Dodge. First up, his secret marriage with the housekeeper. Next,

his third marriage to his secretary. The union between Matilda, John's secretary, and John produced three children,

maybe four, perhaps. We're going to cover all the secret scandals and explosions to in this one,

Let's go ahead and take ourselves back to the first scandal in this episode about

John Dodge's second and secret marriage. John Dodge's first wife Ivy died in 1903 from

tuberculosis. Shortly after that, John Dodge secretly marries his housekeeper, Isabel.

Apparently, the only people who knew that John did this were his brother Horace and Horace's

wife, Anna Dodge, who served as witnesses. Throughout his marriage to Isabel, John Dodge never publicly

acknowledged that they were married at all. John Dodge only referred to Isabel as the housekeeper.

In 1980, when Winifred Dodge Gray-Sab the last living child of John Dodge, died, his papers

were finally made public.

Dodge had stipulated that all of his personal papers remain private and his trust intact

until his final child passed away. What was discovered in those papers shocked

just about everyone. It was learned that from 1903 until 1907, John Dodge had been married to

...
