John Francis was born October 25, 1864, and was the elder of the Dodge brothers.

John Francis was four years older than Horace.

John was first married in 1892 to a Canadian woman named Ivy Hawkins.

John and Ivy had three children together, Winifred in 1894, Isabel Cleves in 1896, and John Duval
