I'll take you to another psalm. This is Psalm 4. Psalm 4.

Psalm 3 and Psalm 4 were written at a dramatic family moment.

This is the nastiest of parent of adult children stuff

that you could imagine.

Psalm 3 is a morning prayer

and Psalm 4 is an evening prayer

written when David is hiding out in a cave because his own son

is out to take his throne. Now, you need to understand sort of the geopolitical situation here.

Absalom has been working to get favor with the people of Israel, and the Bible says he was really good at it.

He would stand in the gates as people were coming in to court and he tried to win their favor

and try to get them to doubt the ability of the courts swindling kind of seductive guy and the

hearts of Israel were for absalom but here's what's important about this. This is a monarchy. This is a

theocracy. If Absalom's going to get that throne, what's going to have to happen?

His dad's got to die.
