Welcome to Grumpy old geeks number 165 for June 24th 2016. I am Jason DeFilippo.

And I'm Brian Schultmeister. So I wanted to do a little bit of follow-up on last week's

story about the Air Force losing all of those like 10 years of database,

or 100,000 records of their entire fraud system and all that stuff. Well, I guess they found them.

Oh good. Where do they pound them? I don't know. I think somebody left them in the couch cushions.

No, they had experts come in working day and night and they're like,

they have a four sentence press release. Like, yeah, we found them. Never mind. I guess

nothing like bad press to get you off your ass to find out where your files went.

I suppose so. Well, I'm glad that they looked under the covers.

And trunk, little trunk follow-up. Yes.

The Verge has an awesome article. It's trunk threatens a nightmare hellscape of video content

in new warning to employees. It's a video that's supposed to be like rallying the troops for

all the new stuff that trunk's going to do. I watched it. Oh my god. It is jargon soup.

Yeah. I mean, this is like they tore out every single page of wires, old like buzzwords

of the month and just threw them all into one thing. This actually terrifies me.

It doesn't terrify. I think it's funny. I mean, who reads the paper anyway? So what's it?

You know, who cares? Paper Jason. That's the whole point of trunk. They're going to be funneling

entertainment media news videos down your throat using all kinds of methods.

Machine learning and AI. Machine learning and AI to make sure that the best and worst content

coming from the LA Times gets shoved down your Chicago and throats. I know. It's like, what the hell
