0:40.9 | Hello everybody. I am happy to have you back. Thank you. I'm delighted to be here. We are starting a new year |
0:50.6 | It's 20-23 and it's always a very hopeful time at the beginning of every year. Wouldn't you say? Oh, I think so. You know everybody makes all kind of wishes and promises and resolutions |
1:05.6 | And I think we all start the new year very optimistically. How are you feeling about 2023? Well, I look forward to every year |
1:15.6 | But this one in particular because I had had some foot surgery in December and I'm healing from that and just will be glad when I can get out and exercise and walk and I'm enthusiastic about that. Oh, that's good. Well, I was in for COVID |
1:36.6 | I mean really inside and I cooked and ate cooked and ate and put on so much weight and haven't gotten it off since COVID. So this year is my year to whip myself into shape. I like that. Well, I mean for you the hardest part was you hadn't been mobile for a while because of your foot and then also you have a bum knee. Well, I'm going to have to have a new replacement later in the year. |
2:02.6 | So I have the foot problem on one leg and the knee problem on the other leg and so my mobility hasn't been very good at all fortunes right. Now once you get all that sorted or you're going to start taking up jazz or size? |
2:20.6 | No, I'm going to silver snickers at the Y. What is that? That's a program for older people and they do silver snickers and they do chair yoga. |
2:31.6 | And I'm going to I'm going to do bed. I'm going to start walking again. That's good. Walking is good for all of us. I need to be remembering to do that. I was walking so much when we were living in Toronto. We walked every day and so that helped me keep weight off. |
2:48.6 | I don't feel like I was necessarily eating better, but I was eating less and I was walking all the time and I kept dropping weight that way too. So I need to remember that when I'm in a leg. |
3:01.6 | Because no one walks in a leg. It's so weird. Everyone gets in their car and drives even if it's like a block away. |
3:08.6 | But you and Jacks do hike. We do hike. We've been trying to keep that going and make time for that. I've had to be very diligent about my schedule when they are trying to schedule me to the |
3:21.6 | distance to agree with different things that have to be like, wait, that morning I said I would go hike so I'm not going to do any podcast or interviews or whatever it is that morning and they go, yeah, great. So I have to just remember to keep making that a priority. |
3:35.6 | As most of you know, even better than I do, when we start doing an activity, if you do it repetitively, it becomes a habit. I used to be in the habit of walking at least two miles a day. Then when my knee and my foot started giving me trouble, I no longer did that so I'm out of the habit. |
3:59.6 | So I've got to start again slowly but work back up to that. You could ask one of your friends to go with you. That's like a good social time too. Always, always somebody's wanting to walk and I love to count steps. But for the last couple years, I have walked so few steps that I was embarrassed to help them. |
4:21.6 | You took your tracker off. I did, but I'll put it back on during 2023. Now tell me more about this. How does that work? |
4:31.6 | Well, I just sound like you're sitting in a chair's stretch. |
4:36.6 | Well, you do. Well, you know, be honest. Most people at my age either can't get down on the floor or can't get up from the floor or maybe both. |
