I'm going to open today's show with an Instagram direct message that I received last Friday.

It said, I listened to your podcast today, and it was the first time I've felt

kind of sad listening to it. A few years ago, I went through a psychosis and spent a long amount

of time living out of my car, avoiding other people altogether. The only connection I enjoyed

with people was listening to your podcast. I used to froth on listening to

you guys riff about life and surfing while I was road tripping. I'm happy and healthy these days,

but I still look back on those days and remember listening to your pod and feeling connected

to some bigger time when I felt disconnected from everything. It would be an absolute

shame to let your egos destroy something that is really cool and that is bigger than the

both of you. End quote. Well, that certainly puts things into perspective, wouldn't you say? Obviously, my name is David

Scales. This is Surf Splendor. That message was in reference to a discussion that I had on air

with Scott Bass last week. This episode, this entire episode, is meant to just provide some clarity.

And again, perspective on that

discussion. This is the only time that I plan to discuss this. I don't want to sully any other

episodes with something so petty. And I'm sure for the vast majority of the audience,

banal. So that's your warning. If you don't want to peek behind the curtain,
