Hello, my name's Justin Klu, and I'm here today with Will Sloan.

0:07.8

And you're listening to The Important Cinema Club.

0:10.0

And today we're talking about a favorite of me and Will's, Terry Gilliam.

0:15.2

Here's to the Dreamers.

0:16.3

Or is he?

0:17.8

Yes. Well, you know, Terry Gilliam, I will probably always think of as one of my favorite

0:22.1

filmmakers. A hundred percent. When I picked up a digital camera when I was in junior high and I

0:26.7

started making movies, I'd be like, all right, I want to put the camera on its side. I'm going to

0:31.6

do like this Gilliam camera shot. Like his visual style already meant something to me. I mean, he is one of those ideal entryway directors, at least for young boys, in the sense

0:53.0

1:06.8

want to keep the artists down. And that means something to a kid, right? Because it's somebody trying to put their personal vision on screen.

1:14.4

And for me, my love for Gilliam started and was solidified with Brazil, which we should

1:19.7

talk about first because I think out of all of Gilliam's movies, this is the one that me

1:24.2

and you know by heart.

1:25.5

For a long time, it was on like my second favorite movie of all time. Yeah. And I'm questioning myself now of like, when did that go away? Was it the last time I watched it in theaters or even on DVD? I don't know, but at a certain point, maybe because I watched so many other Terrigillium films, it was kind of overshadowed by them in some way.

1:44.6

Or, you know, I just know it too well.

1:46.5

There was a time when I probably would have had Brazil, like in my top ten.
