Summary
In this episode I'm chatting with Jason Phillips, CEO and founder of iN³ Nutrition and the Nutritional Coaching Institute. Jason has written for several publications including Men’s Fitness and his own book, Macros Explained: Your Ultimate Guide to Macronutrient Prescription for Health, Performance, and Aesthetics. Jason’s journey began with his battle with anorexia. He uses that experience today to help thousands of people achieve their fitness goals. His formal background comes from Florida State University where he majored in exercise science with a concentration in fitness and nutrition. He has consulted for reality weight loss shows, traveled with the PGA tour, and has helped several functional fitness athletes improve performance.
In this episode, Jason and I chat about the vilification of swear words, why he never prepares for a speech, and how he got comfortable with public speaking. He also talks about why he considers himself to be the best nutritionist in the world, why character is more important than skillset when hiring, how to get your dream job, and what his certification program is like. He also shares his views on the "calories in versus calories out" debate, the limits of research studies, and his own experience struggling with male anorexia. We discuss social media, why eating disorders are on the rise, and more.
