So yes, normally we cover crimes and criminals here, but also historical tragedies and disasters.

And hurricanes definitely fit into both of those latter categories.

And we are right in the middle of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season right now, which is predicted to be worse than normal.

Combine that with a brand new book out about the history of hurricanes in the Americas just released last week and the timing was perfect.

It is so great to have as a guest once again, Eric J. Dolan.

If his name rings a bell, it is because he first came on the show in September of last year, two share stories from his book, Black Flags, Blue Waters,

the epic history of America's most notorious pirates.

Now he's got a new book entitled A Furious Sky, the 500-year history of America's hurricanes.

And 500 years is an awful lot of history to cover.

So how did this book come to be?

Well, most of my books are ideas that I think up.

And to be honest, I had been thinking about writing a book on hurricanes for a number of years, but I hadn't found a single hurricane that fit the bill.

Because the two hurricanes that came to mind first were the Galveston Hurricane of 1900.

But there was already a really great book on that by Eric Larson called Isaac Storm.
