This is episode 161 of the Swallier Pride Podcast and today we have Andrea Hayes back.

She was on a few episodes ago and she hinted at her love for narrow anatomy so we had so many requests for her to come back on the show.

But anyways, Andrea received her Bachelor's and Master's in Speech pathology from Loyola University

in Maryland.

She completed an externship at the R Adams Cali Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where she fell in love with being a medical SLP.

She completed her CF at the Shock Trauma Center and received her seas in 2003.

In 2005, she joined the team at the

Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore with initial years covering neuroservice,

then medical oncology, then cardiothoracic surgery, rotations giving a really nice range of experience and exposure.

She practiced there until 2012.

During her time at Johns Hopkins, she also taught the graduate course, neurology for the speech language pathologists

at Loyola University.

In 2013, Andrea decided to move to the Sunshine Coast

and fell into an awesome seasonal PRN position

at Blake Medical Center, where she is now the

supervisor of the SLP department. Her focus of practices currently CVA trauma

and burns slash facial burns. Her favorite pre-Covid pastime was skating in a local roller derby league.

Andrea received her board certification in swallowing and swallowing disorders in 2015 and her MHA degree in 2019.
