The only way we know God is through His word. We don't get it out of the air.

And we don't get the ideas of what God's will is for us out of our own judgment or our own wisdom.

We get it out of God's word. The very statement that it is God's church ought to mean that our

church then be faithful to God's word. That is past President of the Lutheran Church, Missouri

Senate, J.A.O.P.J. Jr. defending the Bible. It's known as the Battle for the Bible. Happened there

in the mid-70s. Some of us are old enough to remember when it was happening, but I was only

about ten years old at the time. I didn't know. I do know that when this battle for the Bible

was occurring, it did cause ripples in individual congregations. That's the only way I knew about

that controversy as a ten-year-old kid. Well, a lot of years have gone by and that controversy,

well, are there still some unpaid bills theological and maybe even financial over the battle for the
