Welcome to the Lord of the Rings lore cast, the show that explores the background of Tolkien's amazing world from the very beginning. I want you to imagine that you are an elf, a dark elf.

You're not one of the Noldor.

You're not one of the Sindar.

You are a dark elf, an eastern Middle Earth.

One of the groups of elves that didn't go to Valinar, decided to stay in Middle Earth,

and just took to the forests, found their own homes, lived in the wild.

There's not many of you, but you have a small group, a small family group.

And one day, the moon rises in the sky.

And you've never seen anything as brilliant as this.

You've never seen the trees of Valinor.

And so a light, the size of the moon, rising in the night sky,

dwarfing the stars that you know and that you love,

just shows up one day.

And you've existed for thousands of years at this point.

You are an older elf.

You're not one of the young, new elves.

Maybe you're the leader of your tribe.

And you're trying to explain what you're seeing to the rest of your group.

And seven days go by.

In actual day hours, not years of the trees.

Seven days go by.

But you don't know that that's what time is being measured in yet, because there's no sun.
