Summary

In 1909 the Phoenix Gazette published an incredible story about an archeological find, sponsored by the Smithsonian, of a cave within the Grand Canyon which supposed held a large store of artifacts thought to belong to an ancient civilization. The story quickly faded from sight, but was revived in the 70;s by certain authors seeking attention for exposing what they felt was a massive cover up being perpetrated by the Grand Canyon National Park and the Smithsonian. .In this story we discuss the original article describing the find, three audacious hoaxes pulled off in those times (over 100 years ago), and the truth regarding the origin of the Kincaid's Cave story. 1:12.4	many of you have traveled to Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park, and those of you who haven't, if you can be impressed
1:18.7	by truly wondrous things, should put it at the top of your list of places to visit. It is a wonder to behold.
1:25.7	The beauty of the geological formations, the grandness of the huge deep canyon,
1:30.5	and the mysteries it holds all capture the imagination. The canyon is
1:35.8	277 miles long up to 18 miles wide and reaches over a mile in depth. The Colorado River runs along its bottom.
1:46.4	President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of saving the park from development
1:50.6	and was the causal factor for an act of Congress under President Woodrow Wilson,
1:55.0	which made it a national park in 1919.
1:58.9	The saga of King Cade's Cave within the park begins with a 1901 newspaper story of the finding of the remains of an ancient
2:05.9	civilization inside of an extensive cave in Marble Canyon,
2:10.3	one of the hundreds of scenic spots that make up the Grand Canyon.
