global trade and oil supplies. The waterway has been effectively closed to tankers since the start

of the conflict with Iran. President Trump has urged the UK and others to

send warships to the area. So Keir Stalmer said no decisions about deployment had been taken,

but he stressed that he would not allow Britain to get drawn into the wider war. In the House

of Commons, the shadow foreign secretary Dame Priti Patel wanted to know what he was

considering.

Recognising that this is not straightforward, where is this plan and what measures are being
