Enjoy the show. I'm This happened in August of 2024, in the middle of a gloomy Melbourne winter.

It still gives me chills when I think about it.

For context, I had just started a new job and was working from home while being trained

over Microsoft Teams.

My husband was at work, about 45 kilometers away, and I was completely alone in our new house.

We had only moved in a couple of months prior into developing the suburb. At that point,

the street was practically deserted, just one neighbor beside me and another all the way at the other

end of the road. As for all of the homes in between, they were just empty lots and half-built

houses.

On this day, at around 3 p.m., although it was still daytime, it was already dark due to the thick winter clouds.

I was sitting in our theater room, which faces the front of the house.

The blinds were partially shut, not enough for full privacy, but enough that you'd need to look very closely to see in.

And then out of nowhere I heard a knock.

Whoever was out there didn't even try the doorbell.

They decided to knock, which was odd.

Door-to-door salespeople usually ring the doorbell, and I wasn't

expecting any parcels, so I got this immediate, uneasy feeling, and checked our security cameras.
