This happened a bit ago, but it still scares me in my family. This instance is the reason why I check our house every night before bed.

The apartment that I live in isn't big, so it won't take long for me to describe the layout. My room is

directly across from the front door. To the left of the front door is the living room and kitchen.

If you continue going past the living room

and kitchen, there's a hallway leading to my mom's bedroom and the bathroom, and there's a storage

closet to the right of the front door across from my room. The fire escape is next to my bed,

and at the time, we were breaking a little roll since we had put an AC unit in the window. We had to do this since my asthma kept acting up whenever I would get too hot. This happened on a Friday, around the beginning of the school year, so it was still a bit hot. It was a Friday, so I was allowed to stay up late like every other kid

who was excited to chill for the weekend. When I got home from school, everything was all right and

nothing seemed out of the ordinary. My older brother, who was 20 at the time, was at work,

so I decided to do a bit of studying.

I then went to my mom's room to play with my four-year-old little brother.

We'll call him Asher.

Sometime after 9 p.m., I was still in my mom's room, watching a show with my mom,

while Asher preoccupied himself with his tablet. My mom went to eat some leftovers
