Enjoy the show. This happened when I was 8. I lived in a very small village, which was more of a patch of houses, really.

There were barely any people there, and it was the kind of place where everyone knew everyone.

I don't even know if it had a real name. We just called it the ridge because of the tall hill near the east side of the area. My best friend back then was a girl named Emmy. We were both eight, maybe nine. We did

everything together. We biked, played in the woods, and made little hideouts behind everyone's

sheds. Summer lasted forever back then.

There was this old lady who lived at the edge of town named Mrs. Telly. She was always kind.

She gave us little candies whenever we passed by. One day, Mrs. Telly told us she was having

her 80th birthday party that weekend.

She said that she needed two full pails of blueberries to make her birthday pie and some jam,

and she asked if we could go out and pick them for her.

We said yes right away.

There was no hesitation.
