My conversation with two media and message consultants, Luke Peterson and Ricky Connery.

Luke distributed a survey based on my questions about America at 250.

2,700 people responded.

We discussed some of the results of the survey,

but also the question of how exactly do I or does anyone

else go out to listen to America?

How do you check your own bias or avoid what is called confirmation bias.

And once you've spent a year or two listing,

how do you present what you've learned in what formats

and in what larger historical context?

One thing is certain.

All people everywhere are storytellers and the question is how to hear those stories in a way that is useful to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
