Welcome back to the quote of the day show I'm your host Sean Crox and the

Sean Crox and dot com. We got Dr. Wayne dire back on the show and today he's

going to talk about the power of living on purpose of being in service to

others asking that question. How can I serve you in being independent of the

good opinions of others? Dr. Wayne dire is coming up.

As well said that one of the highest functions of self-actualization is to

learn to become independent of the good opinion of other people to become

independent of the good opinion of others to not be seeking that out and the

irony is that when you are living that way when you are not functioning on the

basis of trying to get other people's approval or to win their

approbation and so when you're not focused on that that that people respect you

and love you even more. That was a counselor for years in high schools and

universities and I used to tell the kids who just were so consumed with wanting

approval wanting to be accepted by everyone else around them and trying to

live their life that way that they were always upset very depressed they were

often even suicidal because they just couldn't get the approval of their

parents and they couldn't get the approval of various important people in their

lives and so on and I used to say to them who do you think gets the most

approval? You go out into the world and you beg people to approve of you and you

find out how quickly people want to avoid you who wants to be around someone

who's constantly looking for approval and who are the people that you approve
