Scott Wasserman is the ableton programmer for Hamilton which means that he's in charge of

everything that can't be played by the orchestra he's been with Hamilton since the Vassar days.

He has a treasure trove of knowledge and stories,

and he brought so many Ableton gems.

So one of the things that I wanted to talk to you about was... I'm so nervous.

So there's a high hat and snare loop in Stay Alive and

this is something that was also influenced by Neven Steinberg, the sound designer.

So there's this loop that features

prominently in Stay Alive and all times that the Stay Alive themes comes back in the show. It is a high hat loop with like a heavy

snare on two and four that in the show sounds like this. isolated without the rest of the

the rest of the orchestration around it, the loop that sounds like this. The original version of this loop sounds a little bit different and I wanted to talk about why and how able to effects that.

So the original version of the loop sounds like this. So it's a very, very subtle difference, but what's added onto it by Ableton is what's called

an oscillator or an oscillating auto filter.
