Summary

Disney and Marvel Studios have pulled Black Widow from its May 1 release date and suspended all active productions due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). These include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki right now, but even more upcoming productions could be impacted. Obviously, none of these impacts are of primary concern with respect to COVID-19, but they are signs of how our way of life has changed for the time being and it's okay for fans to feel disappointed. This news, of course, is relevant to this podcast, so host Sean Gerber delivers his full analysis of these stories and more in this episode.

0:19.3	coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak on Marvel Studios and the MCU.
0:24.0	Black Widow has been delayed indefinitely.
0:27.0	Production has been suspended on all Marvel Studios films and series
0:31.0	currently undergoing principal photography.
0:33.6	Those include Shanghai and The Legend of the Ten Rings,
0:36.6	The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wanda Vision, and Loki.
0:39.7	Now before I go any further, I want to make one thing perfectly clear.
0:43.4	None of what I'm going to talk about today
0:45.6	are among the primary concerns regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.
0:50.2	What matters most is that people are suffering and lives are being lost in the efforts to prevent as many people as possible from getting sick and losing their lives.
0:59.0	And beyond those being exposed to COVID-19 there are still people suffering in numerous
1:04.9	ways including the loss of their livelihood. The human cost is always the
1:09.7	greatest but we are for the time being also losing our way of life in many respects
1:14.8	losing the things that bring us joy for me and many if not all of you
1:19.3	being Marvel fans and watching Marvel Studio stories are among our biggest sources of joy.
1:25.0	We were looking forward to Black Widow, so of course it's disappointing to see it being postponed,
1:30.0	even if we agree with the necessity of that postponement
1:32.7	and recognize that it's far from the biggest problem out there right now.
