Summary

Murph interviews Eddie Diaz, a former US Navy corpsman and retired Orlando Police Officer. They discuss Eddie’s lifesaving efforts while in combat under enemy fire. Eddie’s transition back home led to him earning a college degree and becoming an Orlando Police Officer. During an early morning traffic stop, Eddie was shot 8 times and Officer George DeSalvia was murdered by a cowardly gang member. Eddie talks about his story of survival, resilience, beating the odds, never giving up, and the power of forgiveness. All right, so we got you back now, and you're a full-fledged member of the Orlando Police Department, right? That's correct.

So then I would go to sleep and I'd sleep all day and she would wake me up

when she would get back from work which was around 3 o'clock. And then we could go grocery

shopping, cook dinner, eat, watch TV or whatnot.

And then by the time she was going to sleep,

or getting ready to go to bed, I was getting ready to go to work.

She would go to bed by 1045, 1030, 1045, I was back at the station because we had lineup and then

my shift started. It was 11 at night until 7 in the morning.

And, and so. What area town were you assigned to the first time?

Initially, I was assigned to the northeast part of the city.
