I'm your host Heather Ashley and today's case is out of California.

Small talk sucks so let's dive in.

Larry McNabney was born and raised in Nevada and his venture into adulthood wasn't the easiest.

According to the book marked for death by author Brian Caram, Larry learned that alcohol

was a quick personality change for him.

To remedy his shy and serious nature, he'd take a couple of drinks and Cinderella himself

into a high functioning, charming, quick-witted and sarcastic guy.

To him, he felt like alcohol turned him into a better version of himself.

In the late 1960s, Larry went off to college and arguably did really well, but while he

was working towards his bachelor's degree, tragedy came at his life from every possible

angle.

His brother came home from Vietnam, but the adjustment was hard and he turned to drugs

and ultimately died of a fatal overdose.

Not being able to stand the loss of his son, Larry's father took his own life three months

later.

With the loss of his brother and his father, Larry was wrecked.

He decided to reevaluate who he was and what he wanted out of his life and became more

motivated than ever to help other people.

With that, he enrolled into law school and by 1974, graduated near the top of his class,

passed both the California and Nevada Bar exams and became an attorney.

Just to add this in here, Larry had been married in the early part of his education, which
