Hi and welcome'm here as always with my colleague Susan Simpson and we have a special guest this week but first Susan how you doing?

Hey Robia I'm good I'm excited this week for a special guest.

I am too and a number of our listeners will be acquainted with our guests because she's been on the

40th before but also if you follow us in our other lives undisclosed

she was a seminal part of our series on the killing of Freddie Gray and I'm talking

about Dr. Marsha Chatelain who is a good friend of our show and our personal friend, but I want to tell you a little bit about

Marsha before we start talking to her.

Marsha is a provost distinguished associate professor in the Department of History at the American Studies program

in Georgetown University. She is a nationally internationally known scholar on

African American life and culture. She is the author of a number of books outside

girls growing up in the Great Migration and most recently

franchise the Golden Arches in Black America. In 2014, she organized her fellow scholars in a social media response to the crisis in Ferguson entitled

hashtag Ferguson syllabus she's also appeared in the 2019 Stanley Nelson documentary

Boss the black experience in business Marsha has Stanley Nelson documentary Boss, The Black Experience in Business.

Marsha has won several teaching awards at Georgetown where she has also served

on its working group on slavery, memory, and reconciliation.
