Summary

Joining us on the podcast we are delighted to have the fabulous Dr Rebekah Donaldson. Dr Donaldson, who completed her emergency and critical care specialist training at the RVC, is now working at Queensland Veterinary Specialists on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. We thought we would stay in the Southern hemisphere for this podcast and talk about tick paralysis. From presentation to treatment, we hope that you enjoy.

Good day, Dominic Barfield here. And this is the obviously clinical podcast. Thank you for listening and thank you for subscribing on your smartphone or generic fruit-based device. I'm really grateful for you taking the time to download and listen to this podcast. I'm incredibly grateful if you could pop to Apple podcast or ACAST, wherever you listen to your podcast and leave us a review. Obviously, a five-star review would be great and really appreciate a couple of moments of your time to do that. So joining sort of remotely in the studio, actually, it's

0:25.5

my office and probably Beck's home, we're delighted to join Dr. Rebecca Donaldson,

0:31.5

who works at QVS, a Queensland veterinary specialist in Queensland, in Australia.

0:45.5

And the tenuous connection, although a second podcast in a row with an Australian flavour,

0:48.0

Beck actually sort of trained at the RVC.

0:48.9

So there you go.

0:53.6

So that's sort of connection that we have global, global outreach. But we thought we'd talk not necessarily

0:56.0

about a problem that we see in the UK, although there has been a case report about

1:00.4

paralysis ticks, or tick paralysis, I should say, for a case that sort of came from Australia.

1:08.1

But that was, I think, in the vet record, probably about

1:11.6

2008. So anyway, sorry, I should say, Beck, you're currently working at QVS and now you're

1:18.9

on the Sunshine case. You're a Brisbane grad and then did an internship at QVS, did you?

1:27.7

Is that correct?

1:28.0

Yes, I did.

1:28.8

Yes.

1:29.4

And then came to join us.

1:31.1

And unlike me, I thought maybe the weather's a bit better and I'll head back to Brisbane.

1:38.1

So, thank you very much for joining us.

1:42.7

Thank you for having me, Dom.

1:44.0

I'm very excited to finally be on the podcast.

1:46.8

It's only taken 10 years of trying to reason my way in.

1:51.5

There you go.
