Welcome to Podrunner. I'm Steve Boyette, and coming up is a high-energy hour at 153 beats per minute,

0:13.4

with a strong international flavor and a slightly different approach, called, gradually and then all at

0:20.3

once. Usually, I try to make the transitions

0:23.4

to new tracks fairly seamless and undetectable, to give the sense of the hour being all of a

0:29.0

piece. This time I saw that a lot of the grooves of the incoming tracks worked well with the

0:34.1

outgoing ones, but they were also fairly different from them.

0:38.0

So I snuck in the new track and then dropped the new groove suddenly instead of easing it in.

0:43.5

The result I think is interesting.

0:45.7

There's still that sense of continuity, but there's a clearer distinction between the tracks.

0:50.6

I thought this might seem disjointed, but it worked pretty well.

0:53.9

It's sort of like the musical equivalent of turning a page to a new chapter.

0:58.6

The buildup is still pretty big, and the energy is great throughout.

1:02.9

The mixing style is one of the reasons that I called it gradually and then all at once.

1:07.0

I'll leave it to you to decide how else that might apply.

1:09.7

But I hope it helps you have a great

1:11.6

workout. Podrunner relies on listener contributions to stay available so that your workout will

1:17.8

never be interrupted by ads or pop-ups or anything else. It's you, the music, and your training.

1:25.3

And that's how we want it to stay. So if that's working for you

1:29.0

and you're able to help out, visit podrunner.com to make a one-time or small monthly contribution,

1:35.2

or get yourself a great Podrunner wicking shirt, hoodie, tank, or tea, and we'll all keep

1:41.5

going strong. And now get ready to hear 14 great tracks

1:45.9

coming at you gradually and then all at once
