Well, tomorrow, Saul's new book, Sky Warriors, British Airborne Forces in the Second World War is published.

It's already garnered some great reviews, including one from Gerard de Groot in the Times,

who describes Saul as, quote, a gifted military historian who recounts battles with enthralling detail,

never from a detached distance, and who writes books that possess dramatic intensity. Well, you put it

very well, Gerard de Groot. I would second all that. So to coincide with publication, we thought

we'd devote a special episode to discussing the book, and more specifically, the role

British Airborne played in the D-Day Landings, which took place 80 years ago.

But first of all, it's always interesting to ask this question.

Why did you write this book in the first place?

Well, I'd written the story of SBS, which is a kind of, you know, an elite unit,

but I'd written it SBS all the way through the Second World War.
