So I understand he came from a musical family, right?

Your dad was a trumpet player?

He was a trumpet player before I was born.

By the time I was born, he'd kind of given it up professionally.

But he definitely instilled in myself and my two brothers a desire to play an

instrument and he kind of picked them out. Like, you know, I played trumpet. My older brother, Phil,

plays trumpet still. My middle brother plays, he played guitar. So I played trumpet for a little bit.

And then he bought me an electric bass to kind of

think of oh now we could all play together.

Because one of you because your other brother played guitar.

Yeah.

I mean it could have been drums, it could be piano but it was electric bass which was kind

of interesting and so you know my story about that is that you know I got this

bass. I went to the local music store to get a lesson.

And that teacher asked me the first lesson whether I wanted to join this band that he was managing.

I've heard that joke.

Yeah, it's real.

That's a thing, you know.

And, you know, so I went right into playing music as part of a band.

And I think this was so helpful because it made everything, everything was pragmatic.

You know, it's like, okay, you learn a tune, you go play it.

You know, it wasn't like I sit in the room and practice this stuff or eventually maybe playing with other people.
