What's up? Welcome to Sad Usal School. Hey there, my name is Chris Gellipo. So glad you're

0:09.3

out there. Now we're doing something new every Friday. I believe we can learn as much

0:13.8

from failure as we can from success, if not more. In fact, that's why we're running

0:18.7

this new segment called Failure Friday. Conveniently, it comes out every Friday. It is a collection

0:23.6

of short stories, all about mistakes, missteps, disasters, and of course failure. And just

0:29.6

like our Thurberk Thursday segment, you will hear directly from Sad Usalers who have struggled

0:33.5

to get something off the ground or otherwise had some major setback or detour. And they'll

0:38.1

tell you this story of what went wrong as well as what they learned from it. The stories

0:42.3

will vary, but often they start with an idea, some kind of preconception of like, well,

0:46.8

I've got this idea here, but I think it's going to happen. And then here, of course, is

0:50.4

what really happened along with what they learned from it. So as we are just getting

0:54.2

started with this series, I want to say that I applaud their courage. Anybody who's willing

0:58.2

to step forward and say like, yeah, this was a tough one, right? So I'll try to share

1:02.4

some of my failure stories along the way as well, but we really can learn from this process.

1:06.3

So today's short story features Sean Ogle from Portland or again. Now he is no stranger

1:12.5

to Sad Usal school listeners, as well as anybody who's been following my work for a long

1:16.1

time. I first wrote about Sean and the Art of Nonconformity, my first book. And I actually

1:21.6

know some of this story that he's going to tell pretty well, but I don't think I knew

1:25.3

all the details, including how he was effectively walked out of his office the day he left

1:30.6

his job forever. So I'll let him tell that story, all the details as well as what happened

1:36.2

next. All right, here's Sean.

1:38.2

Hi there, my name is Sean Ogle. I'm the founder of Location Rebel, where I teach people
